Yes I agree with everything you say above because you are right of course.
Yes I would rather the D&S. and not just because everyone annoyingly feels the need to tap your speedster expecting it to be a fibreglass kitcar either!
But in this currently unstable global economic climate, the UK is iffy enough, but the US Government seems to be on a rocky roadtrip to ethical, global & political suicide at the moment to the eyes of the rest of the world?! Surely a lot of people will be thinking twice before big spending, keeping the cash safe in your pocket, just in case..
I feel also it is sad when a particular car becomes so far out of reach.
The good thing about beetles is that if you try really hard it is possible to own virtually any type/year eventually, even kdf's.
But when cars tip over $100k that is it for most people, its sad to think that those few cars will now forever be out of reach regardless how hard you try.
There is such a downside when things increase in value, Owens retired parents used to use the 59 samba all the time and for holidays, but now they won't use it at all, for the sake of being pestered by people who offer to buy it every time they stop at a petrol station, and even we consider in advance where it will be parked safely every time we plan a trip and will need to leave it anywhere. A lot of the fun is taken away.
I am seeing VW diesel rabbit pickups being restored...

And 993's have been popular here for ages, its the early 996's that are on the bottom. Our beaten up 996 Cab was hard to shift last year.
Pass me the special Eric crystal ball, I want a go! I keep trying to make Owen buy me an 80s Skoda Rapid Cab but he just wont listen to me !
