Can anyone tell me if there is a key for reading a VIM plate? i'd like to know if the colour code etc is on there? 🙂

Hi there,
The Vin of an old VW is not readeble or use a code.

When you send your VIN to the Stiftung Automuseum Wolfsburg together with 20 Euro , they send you a car ID with al the specifications:
Year, body type, contry of delevery, color, enginenr and maybe even more if they find it.

The newer VW Vin with 17 digit that starts with WVW is a composed VIN that you can read. The color however is not written down in that VIN.
When you find a white paper sticker with codes in an newer car with 17 digit VIN there you can find also the color code.
