Any rhyme or reason?

SWF or VW? did they exist on certain years?

There were two different OEMs to VW- SWF and SHO- sounds like you have a mis-matched pair (of semaphores!)

47 Beetle, 56 UK Karmann Cabriolet, 56 UK Beetle, 57 UK Type 2, 59 UK Beetle, 66 UK Fastback.
