Ok not a VW technical question, but it is related in my case, my trolley jack bearly lifts my bug (or Golf) off the ground now, I think the lift height is getting less and less. I have had a quick look at it and couldn't see a bleed nipple or anything. Are you normally able to refill with jack oil and bleed to get the lift again ?

Any help appreciated

I was able to remove the lowering screw on my jack and pour some jack oil in through that hole.

Yes. It was only raising 3-4 inches beforehand, afterwards it was like a new jack.

ok had a bit of trouble trying to pour jack oil in through the screw plug I removed and found that the filler hole is actually under a rubber bung in the cylinder itself.

All sorted now though, jack is back to full lift height :d
