I was talking about it recently to Dave Cantle who refreshed my memory of the story...

Martin saw the car at BC 1999 and did most of the negotiations at the show. At the time we all thought the price he paid was crazy high but time, of course puts a different perspective on it.

It was originally a Swedish car but owned at the time by an Italian. By the time the wheeling and dealing has been completed the car was back in Italy and Martin and Robin Allen flew out and drove the car back to Southampton.

It's a '55 BTW.
