Just wondering about the best and or easiest way to get the manifold off of my beetle for replacement.
Any hints and tips?
Thanks!

Definitely easiest with the engine out of the car, otherwise you'll need to take the engine lid and mounting brackets off so that you can remove the fan housing and generator as a unit (having first released the regulator ring from its bracket in front of the fan housing).

You can do it in the situ, but it's so easy to drop the engine out and do it on the bench in comfort that that's the way I would go.

I haven't quite gotten around to taking the engine out yet.....
I will keep you posted as to how it goes... although I have a nasty feeling that the thrust release bearing will land on the floor when I remove the engine!
