The MOT station failed my 1962 on the drivers side. I am running short of time before I have to SORN the car for the TAX, and would appreciate any comments as to whether this can be replaced easily.

I have a catalogue with hand and machine reamers, but not sure whether to let a garage perform it or have a crack at it myself.

How easy is it to get the bushes inserted?

If your out of time and you haven't done this before then get a garage but not any old garage someone who knows what old cars are about to do it they will be able to do it in no time and properly with the correct tools and they will be able to get at it on the ramp etc.

Do you have a reliable VW garage in your area or classic car specialist most modern garages will have never seen a king or link pin!!
I had all mine done on a 63 KG it was about £200 all in including the parts

Yes there is a specialist garage near by who said he would have a look at it for me, so trying to find a day when the weather is going to be good is another issue!

He also said that he hasn't done one for quite some time and they will have to try and dig the tools out to do the job.

I have ordered the parts anyway so they should be here this week, so I'll make the decision tomorrow to book it in with him.
