Yep, I know what you mean. I was a little worried about posting the photos.

I'm certainly no nazi fan, but its a part of VW's history that can't be ignored. Just a small part of what makes the VW so facinating - nazi origins, bombed to destruction during the war, rebuilt by the British army, given back to the Germans, advertised by a Jewish ad agency in New York. No other car comes close to that kind of history.

The fist of your pictures sort of looks a bit like a hand tinted black and white picture to me. I've seen a few colour photos and some colour film like the second. Colour seems to make history, good or bad, seem much more real!
