Looking at the samba..

in 1953 151,323 beetles were built... and 151,315 in germany ... does this mean that the other 8 were CKDs in Ireland? Is mine one of just 8?

Question.....

Is there any distinguishing marks on an Irish CKD that indicates that it is a an Irish CKD as opposed to a German built car?

On the early Australian CKD's, in lieu of the body number stamped under the ID plate, they stamped a local number that began with 'MKA', which stood for Martin & King Australia, which is where the CKD kits were assembled. That is how we differentiate an Aussie CKD from a full import VW.
