A topic on the vertical U-shaped guide channels at front and rear of the door that guide the alu-framed door windows on Hebs and Karmanns up and down...

- The width of the Heb alu frame is 14 mm - what is the width of the Karmann frame?
- IF similar widths - does anybody reproduce the Karmann guide channel`s?
- How has Hebmuller owners sorted this during restoration? What guide/slide-material have you used? Any source for any of these parts (steel channel/bracket and/or slider material)??

Thank you in forehand.

I can give you the measurements but the material you will have to
find on your own. The chanel material is a weird pressed stuff,
similar to a material wich is used sometimes for electric isolation.
But it might not be easy to find it in that U-shape.

Thanks again for these pictures and help. Some more questions:

- Carsten: Could you measure the "inner width and depth" of the steel channel? Also the length.
- Do these two channels bolt into original mounting holes in the VW doors? Or did Hebmuller weld in special brackets for these?
- Guido - do you have the Teflon versions for sale?
- I assume both the steel channel and the "glider material" channel must be very similar on a "big door window" Karmann Konvertible as well....say a 1950 - how have owners of such solved this problem during restoration - Missing? Struwe?

Thank you in forehand!

Karmanns do not have any lining inside the steel.
Just loads of grease.
I media blasted and had mine powder coated, for sure no lining.

Hello
Excuse the lots of pics but they explain everything to rebuild the parts. I hope.
I have not disassembled my doors so I do not know exactely but I guess
the rails are fixed at the usual places that are found in a sedan door too.
In my stuff there where two rails with metal chanels and fibre inlays and two rails
just out of fibre alone.
