Finally got a copy of the magazine myself as well...wow! - nice pictures and good words. Stefan Bau sure know what it takes, not too easy to get good light on a bare metal car.

The "Der Wiger Coupe"-idea was born almost 15 years ago, 10 years of part collecting and planning, and then finally just one year execution. It has been a lot of fun, and what a feeling to walk around it and finally see it in the flesh.

A big thanks for all the kind words, to the fellows in the Screwdrivers club:
https://www.screwdriversnorway.blogspot.com/
...and the biggest thanks to Thomas at Norwegian Hammerworks:
www.norwegianhammerworks.com
- what a ride!

Now....what color to paint it? Black or Dark green or Brown?

Well...that is what it is...or was. It is more brown today than it was in Hessisch - so it needs better cover than clear. Unfortunately.

Yes it is pretty amazing, we love it too  :d the only reason why we bought the issue actually, although I feel it would have made a winning cover instead of yet another samba and so was a missed opportunity there (due to one of those clicky mag mates things I suspect)
Shows how times have changed though as buses never made mag covers until recent years, it was always beetles!

I like the workmanship put into this!!8)

Is it based on a Karmann body as it has the semaphores behind the doors?

We started with a rust free, very nice May-52 Beetle Sedan that had a rear window from '58. the front window section is from a 54 Karmann, the semaphore holes and location is handmade, hand-fitted.

One more progress picture. I am saving up for a project thread on the Coupe. The whole roof was handformed from flat sheet metal at: www.nhw.no

Der Wiger Coupe came out of it's winter sleep the other day on it is now in a container on it's way to London... It will be at the Volks World Show on the last weekend of March, so I hope to see you all there.

Here it is loaded on the trailer in minus 21 celsius...
