I broke the key off in the driver's door lock the other day! The key pattern has a very deep cut that weakens it considerably and, to make matters worse, the key I broke was from a NOS chrome/brass blank we had cut at H.O. and wasn't cheap.

Due to wear in the lock, the key always needed a bit of a 'wiggle' to unlock the door and I'm thinking about replacing the barrel to a) hopefully get a key pattern that's not so weak, b) get the bloody door locked, and c) eliminate (hopefully) half of the sloppiness/wear in the lock, the other 'half' being in the door handle, hopefully.

Any idea where I can buy replacement barrels? I think the original key pattern is 'SG' so I'd like to keep it as close to original if poss.

Thanks.

You don't need to change the lock cylinder to use a different key. You can rekey the lock to work with another key.
If the key you bought was brass, it wasn't NOS, it was a repro. All genuine VW keys were steel. If you sourced a steel key, it won't break like yours did.
