Nearer to me, but I've just looked & they've both ended, although it looks like one of them wasn't sold. Going by the engine numbers given in the ads the 1952 one is actually an April '56 (therefore a 30hp) & the 1954 one is a June '57. Still, not too bad for the money!

Why won't he sell it to you? It sold too cheaply and he doesn't want to let it go for £80 It got hit by a forklift truck and is a writeoff? It was stolen before the end of the auction?

Edit: Oh wait, it was a "Buy It Now" listing. How strange.

"Thanks for pressing buy it now.

I'm afraid i have just sold both the engines and some other parts i have in a job lot and the buyers funds are transfering as we speak.
I had just logged back online to remove the engines when you quite rightly pressed the button before i managed to remove them.
Terribly sorry about this!

Many thanks

Looks like a 30 horse to me Julian. Look at the pressings in the cylinder head tin for the head bolts etc.

Is it wrong that i dont know the difference in the pressings? (i've not yet owned a 25 horse!)

I can see the distributor is later...

anyway, that saved a 650 mile round trip...

I'd certainly be reporting that listing to Ebay if I were Mr R  .
Seller is doing himself no favours at all IMHO,and brought trouble on himself by "selling" the engines before pulling the initial Ebay auction.
Does anyone really believe that redundancy is the reason why the supposed sale didn't go through, because I don't   .

Thanks guys, he is obviously reading this as he has also changed the description to include 30hp... so he has now realised that the engine he was trying to sell wasnt what he said it was either... My fault too I suspect

He has a friend on these forums, so I'm not supprised he knows about the conversations.

Sorry, but if you mess people about, especially on ebay, you get bad feedback. Thats how it works.

Still, lucky escape, 650 miles for the wrong engine would have been a nightmare!
