Hi all, My 51 split bug has its original crash gear box in, I am fitting a later 1200 engine until funds allow something more original. My question is what clutch do I need? The engine is a stock 1200 from a 68 beetle. Because the gearbox is a full crash box with no syncro will I need a special clutch or can I still use a standard 180mm clutch?

Hope this makes sense and someone can help.

Thanks

I am pretty sure it is the standard 6 volt clutch, I replaced the one in my '51 and it was off the shelf at GSF, just make sure you change the starter motor bush while the motor is out

Yes, I think Ian is correct. I think it's the standard 180mm clutch, with the pressure plate with the 3 fingers. There shouldn't be any problems with that.
Can anyone else confirm?

Thats brill thanks guys, I slid an old preasure plate over the splines on the box and that slid on fine so I cant see there being a problem.

Cheers again.
