My '57 is almost ready to be painted, however I'm having difficulty getting the right shade of Polar Silver mixed. I know that VW used the same name in the 50's and again in the 1980's, but the 80's shade was a bit more golden in colour.

I'm after the actual mixing formula for the 50's colour. Does anyone on here have a list, or could they advise who best to approach for this?

It's a difficult colour to pin down; in some lights it looks grey, and in others bronze/grey. Having gone to this much effort on the metalwork, I want the colour to be right!

Many thanks in anticipation.

Gavin when i was struggleing for a formular i contacted Glasurit. They do have a UK base,i think it's around the High Wycombe area and as you know suppliers of the original paint used on VW's.
But you have to bear in mind their formular will mean nothing to another paint maker.

Thanks George, I'll give them a shot and see what they can tell me.

Anyone on here with a Polar Silver car know the mixing formula?

Thanks in anticipation,

Gavin.
