hello , probably obvious but i cant find the info.

what year did the door pillars not have the upper cut out?

i have a 53 ( apparently ) shell and the door pillar has a cutout , triangular shape from memory posibly a similar shape is on the door .

cant get a pic as the shell is a few miles away at the mo.

is this an oval item as some pics of ovals i have seen dont have this and have upper pillars similar to all the later beetles

I think they changed that in august 55. No more rubber buffers from then on. The door latch changed too then.So the door of your 53 should have two thread inserts up and low to attach the rubber onto.

i dont have doors and any sort of prper door will be near impossible to find 😞

You are correct Peter august 1955 they changed the pilars and doors
