Hi,

I'm new on here, i've had my '58 Swedish Import bug for about 3 months now, in that time he's had a few improvements:

New interior fitted

He's been in Classy Campers for some minor resto work and had the following done:

Heater channel repaired
Both rear quarter bottoms replaced and entire rear quarters resprayed
Split on bonnet welded and bonnet resprayed
All holes around rear quarter area repaired
Door jambs and heater channels painted
Edges of doors repainted
entire car mopped
Rear arches undersealed
Heater channels undersealed

His interior is finally fitted and he's all polished! :D

He looks so shiny!!! 😃 😃 :D

Heres piccies:

Looks really nice. Can't beat a black `58

What is that on top of your fuel tank? I'm intrigued.

Its an Eberspacher heater, blows hot air into the cabin. Well it should, at the moment it just blows cold air - thats next on my 'to fix' list - lol!

I meant the extension piece where the fuel filler cap goes. Never saw one like that before.

The Eberspächer factory is just up the road here. Don't know if they'd be much help for such an old unit though.

I don't know TBH, its just the filler cap and breather hose, I didn't realise it was any different?

Hi :D
Nice. A black bug always looks great when its shiny.

Out of interest have you kept the old interior panels and seat covers?
I am thinking they would be fabric?

He didn't have an interior when I got him (well the red seats were aready in him) the owner who originally bought him from FBI in swansea decided he'd rip out the pretty much mint interior and put a weird flowery interior in, whch the last owner ripped out for amore fitting interior but only got as far as the seats, i've fitted everything else - so unfotrunately I dont have the original interior - i'd have had it repaired, not rip it out if it did!

I've managed to get pics of his original interior - i'm gutted it was ripped out!  9213.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.

Very attractive car indeed!
Are you going to put semaphores on or leave the 'elephant ears' indicators?

Gonna stick with his ears for now, they are part of his 'Swedishness' and I like that.

My next mod if you like will be getting his tyres whitewalled (hopefully this weekend) and respraying the centres of his wheels red.

Yes, it's very Swedish to have the ears just like it's very Belgian to have round reflectors on the rear wings of Split window Beetles.
Nice and original. It's funny how each country treated the same little car differently...

Heres some pics of how Harry looks now, he's had white walls added, his chromes fitted to the windows, a wicker parcel shelf and a period 'picnic' radio and dual mount aerial fitted :D
