It's nice, but are those front wings original? rear lights certainly aren't; and i don't think the bumpers are either. The interior is sweet.
Maybe someone on here with some more expertise can enlighten us on what would need to be replaced to make this truly "unrestored".

spare £20K anyone?

Maybe Standard models aren't everything after all:!:

These early DeLuxes in this condition have wonderful patina (and I mean patina not rust and flaking bad paint like the scrap that people describe as having patina).

I'd say all the wings are correct. Interior has covers on the door panels and is generally excellent.

Twin-pipe exhaust suggests the rear apron may have been cut though.

Its a better deal here though:arrow:

Yes it is a good deal

Get the back lights corrected and you'd have a really nice original Split – can't me many like this left.

If I had the space…

Nice (but too shiny) '49 Standard there.:d

Why do people go to so much trouble to restore or just repaint their car then put the back lights too far up :?

If you want, you can type over the "1940" and "1960" on the first line of the link below to change the date
range of cars shown. I changed 1960 to 1955; or you could change to "1953" and "1957" for example. :d

Shame. Nice car to come to the UK – wish I had time to get over there myself 😎

So how come other early Beetles there have their lights at the lower original place :?:

If you had very rare original early rear fenders you would not weld up the light fitting holes and re-fit the lights higher up 'cause its the law :?
