Hello I just found another historic pic to share with you. It shows the milling of the casting pattern for the original lid draw-die in 1949. As this photo was used for an ad (image brochure of the company) it was slightly worked over.
I like the contrast of the fully mechanical copy milling from a woodden model then (Accuracy in the range of mm) to the modern 5 axes milling we are used to today (accuracy in the range of some 1/1000 mm). I use the high accuracy of todays manufacturing process in order to make a copy of the original parts with all their "imperfections" from then.
