Was really excited to get this update.

Gav has heen working on finishing the welding this week. drivers side x member repairs and the inside was primed ready for paint.

Gav has made all the repairs invisible and all look as OG poss on the x member parts.
He has also fabbed the bottom of the drivers 1/4 where it meets the channel which came out nice too.

The spare wheel well has another little repair where it was rusted through also.

Just the pass side bumper mount to do early next week then the rear valance can go on.

Theres also a bit of sealing to be done before top coating.

I love the detail that gav has gone to on the quarter panel bottom- a detail that people always seem to get wrong.

despite the amount of work done, i still consider this car to be pretty original, so in my mind deserved to be done right. Although it has to be said, there was far more work required then even I or Gav knew of.

This car is now a keeper, along with my 62 rag, i have no plans on getting rid of either.

Amazing fabrication skills :d .

Love the detailing where the driver's side quarter panel meets the channel. So many not done like this.

Mine included...

Robb,
I've checked those original bits I've got from my white '67 - the complete rear brake set-ups are there, and the hubs have VW logos cast on the insides. There's also all four original shocks. Terracotta Red Boge/VW stamped original, front spindles, rear spring plates with perfect rubbers, some rear suspension parts, seat belts, etc.
All the parts had only done 25K when they came off - so will clean up very easily. As I said - the parts are yours if you can use them. Whenever you can get down to Surrey let me know.

Cracking resto mate!

The welding is finished! Gavs work really is top notch 😎

the work to the rear bumper mounts has been finished. Here i bought some og metal mounts off martin, and Gav grafted them in, the pressings are 100% correct for a 67. Not to mention the extra blips on the lower edge, to clear the motor, as per factory

then the NOS valance i got from the US was tacked on

the final bit was a scabby section at the rear where the roof meets the quarter panels, this was blasted and welded.

have a look on the samba.

the ones i got from martin did need some rust holes sorting in them, but i wanted og metal ones only. the repro ones look rubbish, and the ones hooky does are pre 64 and will foul on the rocker covers on a post 64 bug
