At last I've nearly finished the Heb Engine lid and should have a copy some time next week 😛

It's taken a while to get to this stage :? .. but.. I can now replicate both GRP and very soon Aluminium Engine lids for Hebmuller. 😎

All the other parts of my project are eagerly awaiting coming together..

More pictures as soon as They're available....

😛 😛 😛 😛

Thank you dear God I only need a window frame!!!

But now I still don't know the price of such a decklid and also I like to see some pics of the inside?
Maybe I decide to buy one to hang in my garage as decoration!!!

 ET

btw: doing better as Etzold1 is impossible, he has a real one hanging around in his bedroom!!!

Cut the crap!!!
I admire people who can make things like this!!
I understand that if you can make those parts yourself they are cheaper than that you have to go to a specialized factory!!
However when you do business with people of a factory you can demande perfection!!
I mean to say that when I ask to reproduce a part, in my case a window frame, that both have to look as identical as possible!!
When the differences are too big there is a problem, when you are talking about differences you can nearly or not see with naked eye, its ok for me. And I think when it is ok for me it will be ok for you or anybody else too!!!
That's why those things made by a specialist are not so cheap!!!
If I have to buy a particular part two or three times to reach perfection it will cost me more than that I buy a perfect expensive to start with!!

Never the less I congratulate you again with the making of the decklid, it looks really nice!!

 ET

But what is the selling price now?

I suppose we all search for perfection in our lives, but few of us ever reach that point of perfection do we?? :?

I'm very happy with the outcome of my projects so far and have to thank several people for being prepared to spend lots of thier valuable and very expensive time.

I have found that very often dealing with big suppliers can have its problems 😶

By this I mean that sometimes the bigger guys cannot fully understand the little demands for a thing to be ' this way' or 'that way'...

The smaller companies still retain the personal and ' hands on' approach to manufacture and production that sems to suit my objectives of both volume and quality.

I know this doesn't always hold true, but it's what I've experienced over the years.

The underside of the lid is nearly finalized and will either have the moulded contours of the original or a custom built aluminium mounting for the hinge area.

As I've said previously, my objective is to make a car 'in the syle of' a Hebmuller and not to fully replicate.

Having said that, I would expect that those who want a ' Full on ' Replica will easily be able to satisfy thier requirements with most of my parts.

I've already been asked to build 3 seperate Hebmuller ' style' roadsters for people and think that initially this will be my usage for the parts I've reproduced.

I've quoted my first recipient £6,000 to create the roadster on his existing 1960 Beetle. He seems more than happy with the price and it satisfies my needs also. 😎

Moe pics to follow soon I hope.

Thanks

In light of certain things coming to my attention via the forum.

I'm only going to be supplying reproduction items to chosen customers and only then with some stipulations in place.

I shouldn't worry too much about the selling price just now
Thanks

When you ask me one of those stipulations are going to be:

You shall not put my lookalike lid to the garage wall, I presume???

 ET

BTW: You did not see my garage yet, its even nicer than the place Etzhold1 hung his genuine Hebmuller engine lid!!!

That wasn't one of the stipulations that first sprung to my thoughts but? :?

Obviously these items are meant to be used and will only be offered to people that are able to demostrate thier need for the item?

ie: a project begun and at the stage that requires a lid.

Thanks

But we still don't get to see the inside?

As far as I can see, it doesn't look like the ridge down the middle goes right to the back edge, so how can it be a 'faithful reproduction'?

Would it fit on a real Type 14a?

I think this beats a fibreglass repro...

Hebmueller panels / Hebmuller panels - not yet fixed
I have prepared the reproduction of high quality Hebmueller panels. I am not a professional part dealer but a longtime VW enthusiast. All parts will be produced in Germany using high quality german engineered deep drawing dies. These are no lowcost handbeaten parts or glassfibre reproductions as offered from other sources. The project will start reproducing the decklid outer panel and the 4 reinforcement panels inside the lid. The set will be available as complete assembly or in single parts. Later on I plan to reproduce the louvered panel in between the lid and the passenger compartment and the reinforcement panels in the trunk and under the dash.

Price is strongly dependent on number off orders. Engineering is done. I will start the hardware of the dies as soon as I have found enough serious buyers (min. 10). Time needed for production of the dies and parts will be about 3 months.

Picture shows an original deepdrawn part from 1948/49 which was pressed at the die shop that manufactured the original dies for Hebmueller Company! This part was used for reengineering the geometric data for my new die. (This part belongs to my collection and is definitly not for sale!)

Seriously interested people, please let me know your opinion. I will try to offer the parts at a reasonable price. As I do all the engineering myself, I can keep the costs in a reasonable range (hopefully).

Thank you for looking!
