Hi all, been reading through your forum for a while and missed out on a couple of nice early cars

Do any of you know anything about this car, as I can't get hold of the owner ?

I've noticed a few things which could be put back to stock, can you see much else?

1.Rear wheels
2.Ride height
3.Exhaust

Cheers

It has wide wings too!

Extensively modified while undergoing a professional 'body off' restoration in 2007, this rare UK registered 'Oval' Beetle boasts a specialist-prepared replacement 1914cc engine complete with a high capacity fuel pump, sports stainless steel exhaust and twin 40mm Weber carburettors. Brakes have been converted to discs front and rear and the suspension lowered and upgraded. The interior has been retrimmed in black leather and a high specification in-car entertainment system fitted including a Panasonic Avic X3 head unit with DVD player, iPod connection and Europe-wide satellite navigation. A rev counter and extra instruments for oil temperature and fuel level have been added. The car is secured by a Category 1 alarm / immobiliser system and has a starter button. Seat belts have been fitted to the front and rear of the vehicle". Finished in Polaris Silver, 'XNN 288' is described by the seller as being in "good" (paintwork), "very good" (bodywork) or "excellent" (electrical equipment, interior trim, engine, four-speed manual gearbox) condition. Riding on steel wheels, this special Volkswagen is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until February 2010.

If your standing behind the car, they probably see you

It's a bit of a strange one though, I've asked around a lot of people and nobdy has ever seen it.

Does anybody have access to the DVLA for colour checks and import details etc ?

Do you know I was looking at it for a while trying to decide what is odd about the wings before I read your post

The leather seats would be lovely to use! and do say that the guy who built it spent more than just buying sticky plastic TMI! However that seat back is certainly not oval, post 67? early 70's? and the correct chassis no is not given, that is a MUST find out on a car like this, is it still on its 57 floorpan? especially with discs and 'upgraded suspension'. To be honest not a car I would consider, but at that £ worth checking out in the metal. Check if it has had qtr panels replaced too, looks too clean for that estimate, and with those mods says to me that year correctness possibly was'nt the biggest issue during its build/resto.

The restowageneers over there on the scrapey scrapey forum might know the car better? :d
