Gipf, great pix! Sorry to slightly hijack the thread - what did you take with you in the way of spares? I'm planning a similar trip in my '53 around Germany/France next year so any advice would be welcome.

I did a 2000k round trip to Sweden 5 years ago and all I had to do was change the fan-belt! I'll be honest though, the fact that nothing else went wrong was more luck than anything else!

Cheers!

I took a couple of fan belts, clutch cable spare voltage regulator (no idea why!)lol. points, condensor and my home made timing light. Thats all really and tools. But you can only take so much, so breakdown cover is essential.
I'm looking to do Germany or Spain next year as i had an awesome time this time i want to do it again a.s.a.p! :d

Apart from the legal requirements (bulbs, triangle, luminous jackets), here's a list of parts and tools we took with the oval on our 1500 mile trip to Hessisch last summer:

150 piece socket set (including sockets and metric spanners from 6mm to 22mm).
Screwdriver set (x-head and flat blade).
Large socket for wheel hubs.
Breaker bar.
Large and small adjustable spanners.
Mole grips.
Various pliers.
Water pump pliers.
Small 'electrical' screwdriver.
DVM.
Copper and hide hammer (large).
Gas soldering iron.
Hydraulic jack and assorted wooden blocks.

Duck tape.
Insulating tape.
Araldite.
Assorted wire.
Fuel hose & assorted clips.
Carburettor.
Fuel pump (I think).
Wheel bearings.
Regulator.
009 distributor.
Plugs (2 sets), points, caps, rotor arm, HT leads.
Clutch cable.
Accelerator cable.
Fan belts.
Electric tyre pump.
Cans of tyre weld.
Odd nuts, bolts and washers.
Bulb set.
Latex gloves.
Engine gasket set.
Exhaust gaskets.
Rocker cover.
Bale arm.
5l can of petrol.

Before the trip we did a full service as well as any of those 'minor' problems we'd been aware of but had kept putting off.

You'd think, but seeing as our German is basically talking slower and louder (the McDonalds staff in Wolfsburg loved us!), we thought it best to go prepared for any eventuality.

Oh, and I didn't know you kept a list.
