Does anyone know what the date or engine number was when VW changed the oil filler from the spring loaded one to the later bayonet fitting alloy cap type?

Cheers,

I think it was 56 but I can't find an exact date or engine number.
I can't find it listed in progressive refinements either.

Can anyone else help?

Bert53,

I have looked in the manuals I have and it states the Cover - Oil Filler part no. 111 115 485 was introduced on engine 1 120 615.

This engine appears to date from July 1955.

Hope that helps

That's a great help, many thanks.
I knew some of the early 30hp had the old style fillers. Looks like mine has been changed for the later type, something else to search ebay for 😃

Cheers,
John

Cheers for the link Malc. Looks like it's going to go for a cheap price.
I managed to get a NOS one off ebay a few weeks ago, I just need the spring clip thingie now.
