Yes, but come on - that single 40 setup has been in use for years and its not going suddenly up and decide to make the car run that badly, or they wouldn´t have ever sold any! It may not be the most efficient piece of kit ever produced in terms of idle or warm-up, but theres no need to chuck it away just yet.

Start by checking over what you have, before jumping to the conclusion that spending hundreds on a better twin carb system will cure all your problems.
Have you checked the rubbers that connect the centre part of the manifold to the outer parts? If they are perished and leaking air, then thats not good!

I´d say your problems are coming from somewhere other than the carb.

Fair points JD, if that is a common custum setup proven to work.
I have never realy looked into performance custum stuff, All I know is that if you stick to the stock stuff things always seem to be that much easier.
