I recently had my '59 Beetle's transmission rebuilt. It now leaks like crazy. The mechanic said that the leak problem is because he couldn't find the old style (thick) transmission oil, so he filled it with new oil which is very thin and hence leaks out. Sounds like a crock to me, but he insists he sealed it properly. What to do.....? Any ideas out there?

What a load of cobblers! That's like saying if your bath leaks you need to fill it with thicker water! :d

Thats rubbish, VDubs take 90W oil in their boxes, my '58 is filled with this and doesn't leak - my advice, take it back and dont take any rubbish, he's built your transmission badly.
